The Flag

The Official Flag of the Saratov Region was officially ratified on May 28, 2001.

It is a rectangle with two unequal horizontal stripes. The upper one is white and it is twice as wide as the lower stripe which is red. A bipartite image of the official emblem of the Saratov Region in the centre of the flag is surrounded by a golden ornamental wreath, laurel twigs and ears of wheat joined by a golden ribbon. The overall width of the emblem image makes up a quarter of the flag's length. The width of the flag is two-thirds of its length.

The white cloth of the Flag is associated with purity of thoughts, noble deeds and utter spirituality, while the red stripe represents the intrepidity, braveness and generosity of people who live in Saratov and love their home city.

The Flag's width is 2/3 of its length. Look into the middle of the white rectangle and you will see the emblem of the region.

The golden crown with jags stylized as church domes is on top of the shield. Entwined oak and laurel twigs and wheat ears set off the emblem and symbolize people's strength and spirit, the glory of Russian armour and natural resources of the region respectively.
